Founded in 2001, Moooi is the brainchild of Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers. Taken from the Dutch word for beautiful, the pair added a third ‘o’ to highlight their commitment to ensuring every product is unique and extra beautiful! Within the realms of their brand Moooi offers a startling range of products mixing the functional with the highly creative and the often eccentric – the result being a range which appeals both culturally and aesthetically. In addition to Wanders and Vissers, Moooi works with an extensive list of designers from Jurgen Bey to Maarten Baas, Ross Lovegrove and Nika Zupanc. In ensuring the strength and distinct style of their brand Marcel Wanders retains responsibility for their overall collection, allowing Moooi to expand across Europe in recent years. Marcel Wanders (1963-) was born in the Netherlands and graduated from the School of the Arts Arnhem in 1988. He has designed for B&B Italia, Bisazza, Poliform, Moroso, Flos, Boffi, Cappellini, Droog Design and in addition to his founding role at Moooi is involved in working on a selection of architectural and interiors projects as well as a range of home appliances. Wanders has pieces in design museums and exhibitions across the globe, from the V& A in London to MOMA and in 2007 was the winner of the Visionary Award from the New York Museum of Arts and Design. Moooi aims to create “the most successful innovative design-collection ever and to create unprecedented value and opportunity for its customers”. They view the two concepts as a challenge to which they should find one solution, creating as they go a unique collection which is as daring and playful as it is exquisite.

With a distinct nod to the Mad Hatters Tea Party, the rabbit lamp mixes fairytale style with the realistic form of the animal, adding a touch of madness with the addition of a lampshade. The reflection from the lamp bounces down onto the rabbit base and supreme attention to detail creates a realistic impression of warm dense fur. Combing function with nature and a good dose of humour this lamp does what Moooi does best – creating a head-turning conversation piece which everyone will have an opinion on.
